MONOPRINT DRAWINGS

The Melancholy of a twilight world are a series of monoprints inspired by the empty silent spaces of the Romney Marsh and Dungeness and the strange abandoned structures that evoke memories of past occupation and use, but whose reasons for being are now forgotten. These are metaphysical spaces suffused by deep melancholy, great loneliness and oppressive silent immobility, arcane symbols of something that also resonates within my own being. I use them to explain things I cannot put into words. These monoprints are surely metaphorical self-portraits.
